From the Sedona record

Thanksgiving in Sedona, Arizona

For Thanksgiving week, bring a jacket, book dinner early and start your walks early. The Sedona Shuttle’s holiday calendar lists daily service November 19–29, 2026, except Thanksgiving Day, November 26, when there is no service (sedonashuttle.com, read October 16, 2026). While the shuttle runs, the Cathedral Rock and Soldier Pass trailhead lots are closed, so ride it to those trails; for passes at other trailheads, see our Red Rock Pass guide. On Thanksgiving Day the Uptown Visitor Center and Tlaquepaque are closed, and Red Rock State Park keeps holiday hours (Visit Sedona, Tlaquepaque and Arizona State Parks, read October 16, 2026). If you head north toward Flagstaff, Lockett Meadow Road is closed to cars, bikes and people on foot under a Forest Service order through November 30, 2026, unless rescinded (read October 16, 2026).

Walk early

The cooler late-November hours are the ones worth spending on a path, and an early start is the practical move, not a ranked tip. This index does not guess which tread has ice, mud or a holiday closure. Those facts, when an agency prints them, live on each trail record and on the managing agency's own page. Bell Rock Pathway's Forest Service page reads "Difficulty: Easy family-friendly trail." (last updated July 30, 2025; read October 16, 2026). Fay Canyon's reads "Difficulty: Easy." (last updated January 8, 2026; read October 16, 2026). Read that page before you drive.

The Sedona Shuttle over Thanksgiving week

The Sedona Shuttle's Holiday and Expanded Service Calendar on sedonashuttle.com (page modified September 24, 2026; read October 16, 2026) lists "Week Before Thanksgiving" as "11/19/26 – 11/29/26" with "Service Operates Daily (except Thanksgiving Day)", and "Thanksgiving Day" as "11/26/2026 (Thu)" with "No Service". The same page says: "During days and hours when the shuttles are running, the parking lots at the Cathedral Rock and Soldier Pass Trailheads will be closed." Check that calendar again the week you travel.

Scenic drives, or a seat

A paved scenic road and a pullout are a Thanksgiving-week pattern that needs no trailhead lottery: State Route 179 through the Village, Airport Road to the mesa viewpoint, Oak Creek Canyon on SR 89A. This page gives no turnout grade; the shuttle's holiday dates are in the section above. A trolley or paved scenic jeep is a narrated version of the same idea; those records are on the comparison pages, dated, without a best pick. Airport Loop's compiled record is the Forest Service trail for that mesa, not a separate overlook listing. West Fork Trail No. 108 is off SR 89A in Oak Creek Canyon (check the West Fork guide's closure note first). Forest Order No. 03-04-00-26-007 closes it, and the Forest Service alert (last updated September 25, 2026; read October 16, 2026) says the order is "in effect from September 26, 2026, at 12:00 am through October 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., unless rescinded." When read, the alert showed that end date and no notice of a further extension or a rescission. Thanksgiving falls after it, so check the alert again before you plan a West Fork walk.

Christmas week is a different week

Christmas and New Year's weeks have their own shuttle dates and their own visitor-center, village and park closures, printed on those organisations' own pages. That page covers late December. This page stays with late November.

Jerome or the Grand Canyon are optional; Monument Valley is often too far

A Jerome hour or a Grand Canyon day is something some people add to a Sedona holiday week, not a listing this page keeps. This index does not compile Jerome operators. The Grand Canyon-from-Sedona question is the page that keeps the dated day-trip records that actually depart the area. Monument Valley is a long desert drive — often too far for an honest same-day out-and-back from Sedona — and this index holds no Monument Valley record. How this index is compiled, and what it never does, is on About.

Lockett Meadow Road is closed

If a trip north toward Flagstaff is on the list, Lockett Meadow is behind a road closure. The Forest Service alert (last updated July 18, 2026; read October 16, 2026) reads: "Lockett Meadow Road (Forest Road 552) is temporarily closed for maintenance." The Coconino Fall Colors page (last updated September 22, 2026; read October 16, 2026) adds: "Lockett Meadow Road is closed to all traffic - including foot traffic and bike traffic." Forest Order No. 03-04-08-26-04 says: "This Order shall be in effect from July 14, 2026, through November 30, 2026, unless rescinded." Check the alert again before you drive.

What this page will not say

It will not name a restaurant that is open or closed on Thanksgiving Day, publish a holiday-hours table, or rank a best dinner. Those would be made-up business facts. If an operator publishes Thanksgiving hours, that fact belongs on that operator's own page, dated, after someone has read it from the operator's own website — never as a tip made up here. It will not forecast a freeze or a sunny week.

The Visitor Center, in Visit Sedona's own words

Visit Sedona's visitor-center page, for the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau Visitor Center at 331 Forest Road in Uptown, prints: "Visitor Center hours are: Seven Days a Week, 8.30 am – 5.00 pm Closed Christmas and Thanksgiving Day". That is their wording, read October 16, 2026; the page shows no last-updated date. This index does not compile visitor-center hours as a fact ledger. Re-check that page the week you travel; holiday hours can move.

Red Rock State Park and Tlaquepaque, in their own words

Arizona State Parks' Red Rock State Park page prints a Holiday Hours block that includes "Thanksgiving: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Last entry at 1:30 p.m." Tlaquepaque's hours page prints: "Please note the village is closed in observance of the holidays on Christmas and Thanksgiving Day." Both are their wording, read October 16, 2026; neither page shows a last-updated date. Re-check both pages the week you travel.

How the counts are made

Every figure in the opening answer is a count of compiled records in this index on the review date, excluding the fabricated sample listing — trails, jeep tours and trolley tours. When a record is added or removed, the count on this page changes with the next build. The listings behind those counts have not been independently confirmed with the businesses, and none of them is a claim that a tour or trailhead is open on Thanksgiving Day. Reporting an error is free and needs no account.

About this page

This page names activity types and travel patterns, not businesses. It prints no holiday hours of its own, no weather forecast and no restaurant list. Dinner, shuttle, park and visitor-center hours belong on the operator's or agency's own page, checked the week you travel. Christmas week has its own page. Late November in Sedona is cool and variable: bring a jacket, book dinner early, and walk early. Read October 16, 2026, the Sedona Shuttle's holiday calendar lists daily service around Thanksgiving week except Thanksgiving Day itself, Visit Sedona's visitor-center page prints that the Uptown Visitor Center is closed Thanksgiving Day, and Tlaquepaque prints that the village is closed that day. Restaurant hours on Thanksgiving Day are each kitchen's own to publish; this index does not keep an open-or-closed list. The dated counts this page can honestly print are records this index already holds, not holiday hours: As of October 16, 2026 that is 24 trail records, 6 jeep tour records and 2 trolley tour records. The comparison pages below are the lists.
