CairnThe Sedona Index

Scenic jeep tour, Sedona trolley, or just drive your own car?

The least expensive guided tour of Sedona in this index is a trolley seat: the Boynton Canyon Trolley Tour from Red Rock Magic Trolley (from $22.95 USD per adult, 55 minutes). Jeep tours start at the Call of the Canyon Jeep Tour from Arizona Safari Jeep Tours (from $59 USD per adult, 1 hour 30 minutes). Sale prices are not counted in these figures. Trolleys stay on paved roads with narration; jeeps cost more and go off-pavement into the Coconino National Forest backcountry. Your own car is free and silent; the paid options buy narration and someone else driving while everyone looks. The trolley seat is the cheapest narrated ride in the index and the easier pick for travellers who'd rather avoid a rough ride; the paved scenic jeep tours cost several times a trolley seat for a smaller vehicle and the operator's own storytelling. The rows and records below carry every price with its date — the judgment between them is yours. Every figure here was read from the operators' own websites and carries the date it was checked; none of these Sedona listings has been independently verified yet. These facts were first gathered from the operators' own websites on ; the date each one was last checked is shown below.

For the paved-only crowd

This page exists because two different askers keep arriving at the same fork: the senior who wants highlights without washboard, and the traveller weighing a scenic jeep seat against a trolley seat at a fraction of the price. The gentle options are the trolleys and the tours their operator explicitly sells as all-paved road tours; the bumpiness page lists those by name.

What the car cannot do

Sedona's famous trail country — Broken Arrow, Soldier's Pass, Diamondback Gulch — is reachable only on the permitted off-road tours; a sedan sees the overlooks, not the backcountry. If the backcountry is the point, the comparison changes and the Sedona tours comparison is the page to read.
