From the Sedona record

Plan a Sedona trip

Sedona is worth the trip if you want red rock within a compact town — most travellers find 2 full days enough for one overview + one hike or jeep; 3 if you add Grand Canyon or a second adventure. Best time: Mar–May and Sep–Nov for weather and book-ahead pressure — confirm seasons and crowds on the best time to visit Sedona guide; summer = heat/monsoon/Slide Rock; winter = quieter + stars. Airport/car: fly PHX (or FLG closer); a car helps unless you stay Uptown and book guided days. Cairn lists 8 jeep tour and trolley tour operators in and around Sedona, Arizona: 6 jeep tour operators with listed prices from $59 to $303 USD (sale prices are not counted) and 2 trolley tour operators with listed prices from $22.95 to $39.95 USD. 8 listings were compiled from the operators' own websites and are marked unverified until a human confirms them. This page is a planning map, not a booking service and not a ranked itinerary. The notes name patterns — how many days, which weather window, the Red Rock Pass, stay zones, and what to lock before a flight — then the jeep and trolley table is the bookable overview-and-adventure catalog this index already holds. This page names no lodging properties, restaurants, or shuttle brands. Slide Rock hours, swim-area status, and vehicle fees live on the Slide Rock State Park guide — check them before you go. This comparison was last reviewed on . Each row shows the date that operator's facts were last checked.

Red Rock Pass

Required when you park and leave your vehicle at posted Coconino National Forest Red Rock fee sites — not just to drive through. A hangtag or a plate-tied pass from Recreation.gov; an America the Beautiful pass (Senior, Access, Military, or 4th Grade) substitutes at those Forest Service fee sites. It does not cover Arizona state parks (Slide Rock, Red Rock State Park) or separate concession fees. A pass is not reserved parking. As printed on the Forest Service's own Red Rock & Coconino Passes Program page, read 2026-09-26: Red Rock Pass $5 daily, $15 weekly, $20 annual — this index does not track a live price, so check the current figure on that page or Recreation.gov before you park at a fee site. Guided jeep and trolley days usually do not put your car in a fee trailhead lot (verify with the operator). Self-guided hikes mean you need the pass, or a shuttle / park-and-ride the operator or agency names — this page names neither. For Slide Rock itself — state-park admission is separate from a Red Rock Pass — use the Slide Rock State Park guide.

Where to stay

Uptown is the walkable visitor core: galleries and dinner on foot, short first trips and no-car evenings, with crowds, parking pressure and higher rates; many tour pickups and the trolley board there. West Sedona is where locals live: better value, groceries, and closer to west trailheads in the Soldier Pass, Mescal and Boynton patterns; a car is assumed, and it is the solid all-rounder for mixed days. The Village of Oak Creek sits about seven miles south of the Y: quieter, with Bell Rock, Courthouse and Cathedral access, a family or slower pace, and 15–20 or more minutes to Uptown — worse in peak State Route 179 traffic. This page names zones, not a hotel.

Book-first checklist

Before flights, especially March–May and September–November: popular jeep slots, a lodging zone, and peak restaurant tables. Those can wait: a trolley overview, a flexible scenic or paved ride, and most self-guided hikes once you have a pass and a parking plan. For mixed mobility, ages or kids, take a gentler day first — a trolley or a paved scenic ride — then one adventure. This page names no restaurant and no hotel, and gives no live jeep seat count. Why those months are the book-ahead window — and when heat or a colder quiet stretch is the other trade — is best time to visit Sedona. This checklist does not restate a climate table.

Coming from Phoenix or Scottsdale for one day

A true one-day out-and-back from the Valley is the Sedona day-trip guide, not this overnight planning map. That page is the early-start, south-side Bell Rock, trolley-or-jeep shape. This page stays how many days, stay zones, and the Red Rock Pass. It names no Phoenix operator or restaurant and gives no construction duration.

Putting a trip together

A planning map: days, pace, mobility and group size, then a day order that links only to pages this index already holds. Two full days cover one overview plus one hike or jeep; a third day is for a Grand Canyon trip or a second adventure. Heat, rain, kids, dogs and limited mobility each have their own page. Example: 2 days, moderate, mixed ages — trolley overview, then one scenic or one technical jeep, with a beginner hike as backup. Spa time is on the day-spa comparison. Jeep and trolley stories, operator pages and trail pages are in the list below. Summer water days point to Slide Rock; the Chapel is a short overlook stop; evening beer and groceries have their own comparisons. Season and crowd tradeoffs — milder hiking weather versus quieter heat or chill — are the best time to visit Sedona guide; confirm there, and do not treat this line as a forecast. A creek day up Oak Creek Canyon (wet feet, a lot that fills) points at the West Fork Trail guide — any site hours or fee stay on that page, not here. A sunrise or sunset overlook day (and the parking choices that go with it) points at the Airport Mesa guide — confirm overlook vs loop intent there. Timing and access for the sandstone arch (FR 152 vs Mescal vs Route 11) points at when to hike Devil’s Bridge — any shuttle clocks or pass rules stay on that page, dated.

Prices are the lowest listed price per operator; several operators sell private tours priced per person by group size, so small groups pay more than the listed floor. Full tour lists, phone numbers, addresses and hours are on each operator's page.

What the table shows

The rows below are the jeep and trolley listings this index already holds — the overview seat and the adventure seat the two-day map uses — not a ranking and not a booking cart. Prices, durations and meeting points are the compiled figures on each operator's own page, dated. This page adds no extra operator and no extra fare.

The pass figures on this page

The $5 daily / $15 weekly / $20 annual Red Rock Pass figures above were read from the Forest Service's own Red Rock & Coconino Passes Program page on 2026-09-26 — not a live Recreation.gov read and not a fact copied from an aggregator. Confirm the current hangtag or plate-tied price on Recreation.gov or the page linked below before you park and leave a vehicle at a posted fee site.

What this page will not say

It will not guess Slide Rock hours, swim-area status, or vehicle fees on this page — those live on the Slide Rock State Park guide, dated. It names no hotel, restaurant, or shuttle brand. It will not guess which jeep is scenic or technical — that language, when an operator prints it, lives on that operator's page and on the jeep-or-trolley and bumpiness stories this page links. It will not guess a reserved parking stall or a live jeep seat count. It will not restate Call of the Canyon hours or site fees; a canyon day with wet feet and lot pressure points at the West Fork guide, and any fee stays there, dated. Overlook fees, Route 11 clocks, and pass details for Airport Mesa or Devil’s Bridge stay on those guides, dated — this page only links to those guides.

What unverified means here

The jeep and trolley rows are compiled records: every fact was read from the operator's own website on the date shown, and nothing was copied from an aggregator. A listing is marked verified only after a human confirms every fact with the operator. Corrections are free and need no account.
