An active closure alert, as read today

On 2026-09-26 this page's own Active Alerts banner read “West Fork Temporary Area Closure,” and the forest's site-wide alerts list showed “West Fork Temporary Area Closure – Extended.” The page did not print the closure order's exact scope or end date. Check the forest's alerts page for current status before you drive out; do not assume this trailhead is open.

Restrictions, as published

Day use only; camping is not permitted at this site. A maximum vehicle length of 24 ft. is enforced — no RVs, trailers, buses or other oversized vehicles. Horse and pack animals are not allowed at this site. There are six distinct picnic sites at Call of the Canyon.

Not a Red Rock Pass site

The Forest Service's own passes programme page lists Call of the Canyon Picnic Site/West Fork among the five concessionaire-managed sites that take only the Coconino Hospitality Annual Pass or the gate's daily rate — a Red Rock Pass or America the Beautiful Pass does not work here.
